SimPlant® step-by-step

Step 1 : Diagnosis and treatment planning

It all starts with a patient coming in, looking for beautiful new smile. You will make a first diagnosis. Both the diagnosis and the patient's specific requests influence the type of treatment to be chosen. Informing your patient why you should use SurgiGuide or SAFE System is an important step for a good communication with the patient.

Step 2 : Preparing the scan

In collaboration with your dental laboratory, a scan prosthesis can be prepared. What scan prosthesis you want to take into account during your treatment plan. You can send the protocol together with the plaster cast to your dental lab to get an optimal scan prosthesis.

Step 3 : Taking the 3D scan

To get all vital information from the patient's anatomy a CT scan or Cone beam scan is necessary. Before sending the patient to a scanning site, he/she should be informed on how to wear the scan prosthesis during the scan. Only 1 scan is needed to capture all the information on the patient's anatomy and th scan prosthesis. A CT scan or Cone beam scan with the right parameters is fundamental for a good planning. The SimPlant Platform is compatible with all scanner types and formats.

Step 4 : Conversion of the data

The original, raw scan data are sent to Materialise Dental or your preferred processing center for conversion of the data into a SimPlant project. The 3D representations of the patient's anatomy are created and your project is prepared so you will benefit of all information available. Clinicians who want to process their own data to a 3D environment can use a self processing software SimPlant Pro.

Step 5 : Surgery planning with SimPlant

The conversed scan data provide all the vital information you need to plan the implants. You will make the treatment planning with SimPlant.

Step 6 : SurgiGuide online ordering

The final treatment planning is transforned into a drill guide: SurgiGuide or SAFE System. SurgiGuide will link the planning to the actual surgery. You can order a SurgiGuide easily by uploading the order within SimPlant. An accurate transfer of the planning to the surgery is just a mouse-click away.

Step 7 : Surgery

The actual surgery is where all the planning and preparation pays off. No more unpeasant surprises during surgery because you have of a ful picture of the patient's anatomy beforehand and you even could simulate th surgery. During surgery SurgiGuide will assist you placing the implants moe accurately. If you you choose for the surgical procedue Immediate Smile, the patient will walk home with a set of beautiful new teeth.
